WHO’S THAT GIRL? I went for a long walk thi afternon as part of my “feel good/look good” plan, and since I didn’t see any use in fixing myself up BEFORE sweating for an hour I donned a cinched black trenchcoat, black baseball hat and oversized sunglasses. I headed to an area where I was least likely to run into anyone I knew – the local seaside amusement park. I was aware of the fact that I looked like a movie/rock star with the don’t-recognize-me-or-you’ll-turn-into-a-pillar-of-salt thing goin’ on. In fact, my inner monologue was imaginging that I was mid-1970′s Elizabeth Taylor: more curves than straight-aways, slightly bloated, but still awe-inspiring. I held on to this fantasy just long enough to calculate the median age of the passers-by giving me that special inquisitive look, and only then did I come to the conclusion that they were actually thinking, “Is that Rosie O’Donnell?!” Which begged the question:
What mistaken-identity-almost-a-celebrity-look-a-likes populate your corner of the world? Here in our little town there are a lot of Billy Bob Thorntons and Nick Noltes. There’s an abundance of Vanessa Redgraves and one or two middle-aged Gwen Stefanis, but she’s on the arm of a Drew Carey instead of a Gavin Rossdale. There are too many Tom Greenes and not enough George Clooneys; oodles of Hillary Duffs, Joan Osbornes and Kelly Osbournes, but only one Seal.
Makes you wonder. Okay, maybe not.

I’ve noticed a lot of Kim look alikes here lately or oh, I can’t remember her name but she sang a song that had the word “hateration” in it…and I have to give her props for inventing new words…it looks like the younger crowd is dressing in a more conservative version of M tv…We have gothic looking people, skaters, and kind of hoochie looking styles going on…but kansas is so far behind California in styles. We get your styles two years later.
So…are you going to be the kind of gal who leaves her christmas lights up until July??? I did that once….
oh yeah, we have WAY too many middle-aged Gwen Stefanis and Tom Greens! And one Seal – ha! so true. you crack me up.
i’m proud to say that my actual real-life christmas lights are down. it is only in my virtual reality that i’ve got lights a-blazing, cars up on blocks and hound dogs sleeping on the porch.
…hmmmm in my sphere (the County Acute Psychiatric Hospital) most of the look alikes resemble extras from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. glad you posted a comment cuz now i know about your blog which i liked and even cracked me up…re: figure skater’s dialogue. thx for the comment
I confess, our christmas lights are still up.
I confess we were too lazy to put up xmas lights in the first place… saves us the trouble of taking them down in July, at least.

Funny post- I enjoyed this. I live in Vegas, so when I spot someone who looks like a celebrity, it most likely IS a celebrity- or someone who is being paid to perform in a tacky show pretending to be a celebrity! LOL
